Volunteers are critical to our success! They provide the support and assistance that staff and children need. Volunteers contribute their time, talents, and energy to help create a fun, healthy and safe environment for learning, play, and peacemaking to take place.

Volunteer Responsibilities and Duties There are a variety of tasks that need to be done at YPW. The primary volunteer jobs include:
Child Escort and Safety Monitor: be available in specific locations around the building and grounds, and for trips to the park.
Food Preparation: prepare healthy snacks and suppers.
Clean-up Crew: assist with various tasks to keep the program area clean and safe, especially at the end of the program day.
Driver: use their own car to provide transportation for children who need it; run errands.
Jack-Jill of All Trades: support staff and program operations as needed.
Qualifications We are looking for volunteers who exhibit the following:
Reliability - honoring commitments and showing up
A loving and nurturing communication style
A commitment to peacemaking
Appreciation for children in all their moods and behaviors!
Commitment Expected Volunteers can sign up to work in a variety of ways:
2 - 3 hour shifts during the program day
Whole program day (12:30 – 6:30)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (any number of days)
Outside program hours, according to the needs and interests of the volunteer
Training Depending upon the type of job a volunteer does, he or she may be asked to participate in some training during the weekend prior to Young Peacemakers Week. The training schedule and requests for commitments will be finalized closer to the time of the program.
